Automation Engineer
We're looking for an automation engineer who's built and shipped production systems — not just prototyped them. You'll work directly with clients to understand their operations, then design and deploy AI-powered workflows that replace manual data entry, document processing, and system integration tasks.
What you'll do
- •Build document processing pipelines using OCR, AI extraction, and structured output parsing
- •Design and deploy agentic workflows that handle multi-step business processes end to end
- •Integrate with ERPs, accounting systems, WMS platforms, and CRMs via APIs and custom connectors
- •Visit client sites, observe their actual workflows, and translate messy real-world processes into clean automation
- •Own projects from scoping through deployment and ongoing support
What we're looking for
- •3+ years of hands-on experience building production software — Python, TypeScript, or both
- •Real experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure AI), prompt engineering, and structured extraction
- •Comfortable with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP), databases, and deployment pipelines
- •Experience integrating third-party APIs and working with legacy systems that don't have great documentation
- •Strong communicator who can talk to a warehouse manager and a CTO in the same week
Nice to have
- •Experience with document intelligence (Azure DI, AWS Textract, Google Document AI)
- •Background in manufacturing, logistics, or supply chain operations
- •Experience training or fine-tuning ML models for domain-specific tasks
- •Familiarity with Next.js, Supabase, or similar full-stack tooling

This is a high-ownership position. We're a small team, so you'll have direct impact on every project. You'll work closely with clients, ship fast, and see your work running in real warehouses and offices. Competitive salary plus equity. Chicago area preferred but open to remote for the right person.
